Inspired to start planting a garden during the shelter-in-place period? If so, Richmond Grows—a nonprofit Seed Lending Library within the public library—has a virtual class to help jumpstart your new hobby.

On Saturday, May 2 from 1-3 p.m., Richmond Grows will host the “Absolute Beginner’s Guide to Gardening,” a free online class for gardening newbies.

According to the nonprofit, class participants will learn gardening essentials, including: what to grow and when to grow it; sunlight requirements for different plants; how to start plants from seeds; how to build your soil; what plants do well in containers; how to properly plant seeds and starts; the basics of watering your plants; and what to do if your plants aren’t thriving.

To participate, RSVP here. Login info for the free class will be sent out by Richmond Grows a few days in advance, as well as immediately preceding it.
