A Berkeley man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of robbing a Merchanics Bank in Pinole the previous day, police said.
At about 9:20 a.m. Wednesday morning, a man entered the Mechanics Bank at 2690 Pinole Valley Road in Pinole and presented a note to a teller demanding money, police said. The teller complied and handed over cash. The suspect left the area before police were notified.
The ensuing police investigation, aided by the bank’s security cameras, led to the suspect being identified as Bryan K. Richardson, 59, of Berkeley.
“Investigators determined Richardson was wanted for similar crimes by other Bay Area law enforcement agencies,” according to the Pinole Police Department.
Richardson was apprehended in Alameda County on an unrelated charge and is currently in-custody, police said.
Pinole police are working with the FBI and other Bay Area law enforcement agencies to further investigate the case. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Pinole Police Department at (510)724-1111.
