Contra Costa County Library has unveiled five new library card designs.
Starting today, first time cardholders can choose among the new designs when signing up, and those who want to swap out their old card for a new one can do so at no charge, Library officials said.
The public helped to vote among nine proposed designs, which include Mount Diablo, an astronaut, a train, an otter and a fox.
The new cards are introduced in the wake of the Library system’s elimination of overdue fines as part of a plan to reengage patrons with dormant cards.
