A backpack, school supplies, and a new pet?

Contra Costa Animal Services is offering reduced cost adoptions for dogs and cats through Sept. 30 as part of a back to school special.

“During this period, the adoption fee for dogs over 25 pounds and black cats/kittens, or partially black cats/kittens, will be reduced to $20” at the Martinez and Pinole adoptions centers, according to CCAS.

Typical adoption costs range from $86-$264 at CCAS, depending on the animal

“Our hope is that the community will take advantage of this great opportunity and help us find forever homes for the animals in our care,” says CCAS spokesperson, Steve Burdo.

The reduced cost adoption fee includes the cost of adoption, spay/neuter surgery, microchip and vaccinations, but does not include licensing or any refundable deposits that may be required for spay/neuter surgery.
