Want to help feed the hungry in your community? Here’s an easy way: Dine at a Subway restaurant next month.

During the month of September, for every two meals purchased at Subway restaurants, Subway will donate the monetary equivalent of one meal up to 200,000 meals to Bay Area food banks, including Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.

Subway is recognizing Hunger Action Month in September with a Feeding America initiative that will benefit food banks across America.

And it will have a big impact, as every donated dollar provides at least 10 meals to families in need, according to Feeding America, the network of over 200 food banks across the country.

“The funds raised through this campaign will help local food banks better serve children and families who may not know where they will find their next meal,” says Nancy Curby, senior vice president, corporate partnerships at Feeding America.

Akki Patel, CEO of Letap Group and local franchisor for Subway, said the initiative has Subway restaurants and customers partnering to make a difference in their communities.

“As a family-run, neighborhood-serving business, we are passionate about supporting the people in our community,” Patel said.
