Now that the late rains in May have passed, Richmond residents and longtime Richmond Main Street Initiative (RMSI) neighborhood ambassadors Mary and Deonte have been hard at work on the downtown corridor.

In recent weeks, they’ve been busy eliminating weeds and overgrowth from fence lines, tree wells, and planters along Macdonald Avenue, in the MetroWalk area and on Nevin Avenue, according to RMSI, the community-based nonprofit working to revitalize the downtown corridor.

The Neighborhood Ambassador program is funded by the Downtown Richmond Property and Business Improvement District (DRPBID), which uses annual assessments on commercial and non-profit housing parcels to pay for services and activities aimed at making the downtown safe and economically successful.

In an event hosted by RMSI 9 a.m. till noon, residents of all ages are invited to help spruce up the park in preparation for summer. Lunch will be served.

Your efforts are truly appreciated and there are no words this whole community can give to thank you for your service to us.

We need a picnic or BBQ in the park on weekend to celebrate the beautiful work and life you bring to our community.
