Spring showers didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of chess players at the 7th Annual Spring Classic Community Chess Tournament held on Saturday May 18, at the Richmond Recreation Complex.
The tournament was supported by the City of Richmond Community Service Department Mini Grant Program and the West Coast Chess Alliance, a Fiscal Project of the Ed Fund.
This year’s tournament featured players of a wide range of ages and experiences, including two chess experts (An expert is a player with a US Chess Federation rating of 2000 to 2199 and a chess master is a rating above 2200).
I want to thank the staff at the Richmond Recreation Complex for their support in making this another successful community chess event.
