Richmond Trees is inviting volunteers to its next volunteer planting session this Sunday, Feb. 10, at Burg Park.
Volunteers will meet at the park at 2910 Clinton Ave. at 9 a.m., then break into groups and disperse into different neighborhoods.
Volunteers are asked to wear sturdy shoes, bring their work gloves and even their favorite tool. But if they don’t have tools, there will be plenty to share. For any questions, contact Richmond Trees at [email protected].
Richmond Trees is a group of passionate volunteers that envisions a healthy urban forest covering at least 40-percent of the city and is cared for by partnerships between community organizations and the city.
“A healthy urban forest removes harmful pollutants from the air, soil and water, adds character and pride to communities, slows traffic and decreases crime, increases property values, reduces energy consumption and provides wildlife habitat,” according to the organization’s website.
