Richmond residents are invited to Family Volunteer Day this Saturday, Dec. 8, to help clean up the community and learn how to build their own mini planter boxes.
The event, which had been rescheduled due to poor air quality from the Northern California wildfires, is set to run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Richmond Recreation Complex, 3230 Macdonald Ave. Hosting the event is the City of Richmond’s Community Services Department.
“We will beautify the space around our building as well as Nicholl Park,” organizers said. “Then, learn how to build your own planter box with the Richmond Tool Library!”
Volunteers will be provided lunch, tools and supplies. They’ll be able to keep their personal planter boxes, as well.
Family Volunteer Day is sponsored by Richmond Love Your Block and The Energy Coalition’s Climate Leaders in Action Grant.
