Have you passed through Parchester Village recently?

If so, you may have noticed an extension to a gorgeous mural, landscaping, and more enhancements to the neighborhood’s entrance.

That’s thanks to a host of volunteers, including local business SeQuential Richmond, who came out on two days in late October to pick up trash, prune overgrown vegetation, spread mulch and install solar lighting and stone edging.

About 60 community participants joined in the effort, which included the extension of an existing mural led by local muralist Richard Muro Salazar. Salazar led a ‘paint by numbers’ event to extend the mural showcasing the bay.

A celebration was held Nov. 2 to recognize the volunteers.

The project was led by Richmond Love Your Block initiative, which inspires neighbors and other community members and partners to team up on projects that beautify their  community.

The Parchester Village entrance project was sponsored by ServiceWorks Richmond, SeQuential Richmond, City of Richmond Parks & Landscaping Division, Richmond Tool Library, and The Energy Coalition’s Climate Leaders in Action Grant.
