For the 32nd year, the Richmond community is set to band together — while getting some exercise — in a unified effort to end homelessness and hunger.
There’s still time to sign up for GRIP’s annual Harmony Walk and 5K Race, which is set to take place Saturday, Oct. 27, at Nicholl Park in Richmond from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The event includes fun for all ages, with a rally, vendors a kids corner and more.
But the purpose of the GRIP Harmony Walk fundraiser is always the most satisfying part.
The once small community fundraiser began in the 1980s with members of various local faith organizations wanting to raise awareness about the city’s homeless and needy. It has since grown into a major annual event with hundreds of participants, a timed 5K run competition and family festival at Nicholl Park.
“This event will bring attention to the need for more affordable housing, and raise money to serve our most vulnerable populations,” organizers said.
