Blue Apron founder and CTO Ilia Papas is set to deliver the keynote address, and all West County mayors are set to gather in a panel to discuss the states of their cities, at this year’s West Contra Costa Economic Summit (WCCES).
The annual gathering of businesses and community leaders in West Contra Costa County is set to take place Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Craneway Pavilion at 1414 Harbour Way South.
James Lee, the Richmond Chamber of Commerce president and CEO, called WCCES an important “check up” on the community’s economic health. The summit features a business expo filled with resources, opportunities for networking and heaps of useful information for local businesses and residents.
In his keynote address, Papas plans to discuss his journey of transforming a small idea into a publicly traded business on the New York Stock Exchange, according to Lee.
Just as highly anticipated, a mayoral panel discussion will facilitate a rare gathering of mayors from El Cerrito, Hercules, Pinole, Richmond and San Pablo.
In addition, Congressman Mark DeSaulnier and Contra Costa County Supervisor John Gioia plan to attend and speak.
“This is an event I strongly encourage everyone to attend,” he said. “Whether you are a business owner, a nurse, a mother or father, if you have a vested interest in the economic development of Richmond and Contra Costa County this opportunity is one I would not let slip by.”
