Three suspects arrested following the Shops at Hilltop lockdown

On September 5, 2018 at 5:30 PM, Oakland PD advised they were following three wanted suspects in a car near the Shops at Hilltop. RPD officers responded to assist and the suspects dropped two firearms as they ran into the mall. The mall was locked down with the assistance of Oakland PD, the CCC Office of the Sheriff, and the CA Highway Patrol. One of the suspects was arrested without incident as he was exiting the mall and two other suspects were hiding and apprehended with a police canine.

Three suspects who ran into the Shops at Hilltop while fleeing police Wednesday night, leading to a lock-down of the mall, were arrested, police said.

The incident unfolded about 5:30 p.m. when Oakland police advised Richmond police that they were following three wanted suspects in a car near the Shops at Hilltop at 2200 Hilltop Road.

RPD officers responded to assist, and the suspects dropped two firearms as they ran into the mall, Richmond police Capt. Al Walle said.

Oakland PD, the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff and California Highway Patrol assisted in locking down the mall.

“One of the suspects was arrested without incident as he was exiting the mall and two other suspects were hiding and apprehended with a police canine,” Walle said.
