Building inspection turns up secret marijuana grow on 23rd Street
The hidden marijuana grow operation was discovered in a building in the 800 block of 23rd Street in Richmond on Aug. 21, 2018.

The Richmond Police Department’s regulatory unit came upon an indoor clandestine marijuana cultivation site today while conducting a building inspection on 23rd Street in Richmond.

The unit visited the facility at 820 23rd St., between Gaynor and Garvin avenues, about 11 a.m. today, police Capt. Al Walle reported. While hidden, the marijuana production facility operated in the middle of a bustling 23rd Street merchants corridor.

As of this writing, police had not named a suspect and the investigation was ongoing.
