Richmond police have released details about the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Vennysia Jackson on Saturday.

Just before 4 p.m., police officers responded to the intersection of Harbour Way and Macdonald Ave after hearing gunfire in area, according to Richmond police spokesman Lt. Matthew Stonebreaker.

As officers arrived on scene, they found two vehicles that had collided into each other, both of which had been struck by gunfire. Jackson was found with several gunshot wounds. She was transported to a local hospital where she subsequently succumbed to her injuries, Stonebraker said.

Police described the possible suspect vehicle as a newer model, light gray four-door Infiniti.

The deaths follow a spate of gun violence that has erupted recently in Richmond, including a triple shooting at the St. John’s Apartments last weekend.

  1. Just sitting at my desk staring at this article in disbelief.. Nisha, this hurts so bad. Never in a million years would I imagine this happening to such a beautiful soul. I am most certainly going to miss you. Your smile, that voice, this really hard for so many people. You touched so many lives in so many many ways. God has gained another angel. My family.. My dear friend. I love you forever!
