Congressman Mark DeSaulnier (CA-11) announced Wednesday he will visit the U.S.-Mexico border in McAllen, Tex., to tour the U.S. Federal Courthouse, Border Patrol Processing Center, Southwest Key shelter facility and ICE Detention Center.
He will join Women’s Working Group on Immigration Reform for the tour, which will occur this Friday, July 20.
Local residents who want to learn about DeSaulnier’s experience will have a chance to hear from the congressman at a town hall meeting in Concord on Aug. 4. The town hall will occur at Meadow Homes Elementary School at 1371 Detroit Ave.
DeSaulnier plans to speak with constituents about the border visit, discuss the Trump Administration’s immigration policies and the impact in East Bay communities. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions.
The border tour follows outrage and growing controversy over the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” immigration policies.
It will be the congressman’s 69th town hall and mobile district office hour since coming to Congress in January 2015.
