The United Urban Warrior Society-California Chapter (UUWS) is set to host its 4th Annual Native American Walk for Sobriety on Saturday, July 14, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Richmond.
The UUWS is a national organization that advocates for the advancement of human and civil rights for Native Americans. The whole community is invited to join the walk, which starts promptly at 11 a.m. at the Grocery Outlet parking lot at San Pablo and Macdonald avenues.
The walk continues down Macdonald to 33rd Street, where bottled water and refreshments will be served at Nicholl Park. The walk will then continue and conclude at the Native American Wellness Center at 2566 Macdonald Ave.
“Alcoholism is one of our concerns,” organizer Mike Kinney said. “The Native Sobriety Walk is designed to make the community aware of the issues surrounding alcoholism and alcohol abuse. We invite all of the community to attend. Everybody is welcome.”
