In the first of several free, family-friendly summer events in downtown Richmond, the annual Healthy Village Festival is set for this Saturday, June 23.
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Community Green Space at Harbour Way and Macdonald Avenue and the 900 block of Macdonald Avenue will become sites for a free festival offering not just music, arts and crafts, but also health and wellness resources and activities.
The event by the Richmond Main Street Initiative (RMSI) will include produce bag giveaways, artisan vendors, information and resource booths, pony rides, Happy Lot Farm Pop-Up, Zumba, lawn chess, and hanging out with Richmond firefighters.
“Special activities hosted by Richmond Main Street Youth Committee and ‘Ask a Doc’ Kaiser Permanente physicians are sure to please,” according to RMSI.
Local musician group, Tatsumaki Taiko, takes the stage at 10:30 a.m. The Downtown History Hike tour, led by local history buff Karen Buchanan, will depart at 11 a.m.
Exclusive food vendor, CulEnarE DEva, will serve healthy soul food and fruit-forward desserts. Bike blender smoothies will be served by nonprofit Rich City Rides.
