El Cerrito del Norte BART station was closed Saturday night following a stabbing on the station platform about 10:20 p.m., according to multiple news reports.

One victim was taken to John Muir Medical Center and one suspect is in custody.

The suspect has been identified as  Carl J. Johnson. He was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and issued a prohibition order, according to Bay City News, which spoke with BART spokeswoman Cheryl Stalter about the case. Stalter said it wasn’t yet clear whether the suspect and victim knew each other. The investigation is ongoing.
