Richmond fashion designer’s new line wows in Washington D.C.

Last last year, we told you about Merced Jackson — the budding young fashion designer and stylist from Richmond — after she was featured in the award-winning blog, Fashion Bomb Daily Style Magazine.

Now, we have further proof that the alumnus of the Making Waves Education Program is truly starting to make waves in the fashion world.

The above video features a runway show during Howard University’s Annual Homecoming Student Fashion Show in Washington D.C. on Oct. 19. All pieces in the video segment were designed and made by Jackson.

“Merced Verbena offers one of kind yet timeless and fashion-forward pieces, inspired by art, architecture, and attitude,” Jackson said. “You are bound to turn heads rocking our pieces as we embrace power, strength, uniqueness, and sexiness.”

Vanessa Calloway, a local resident and community advocate, praised Jackson for her success.

“She has overcome so much is in her life and is prime example of determination and focus,” Calloway said. “Merced Jackson is a great example of why people should fight for their dreams. Dreams do come true.”
