As multiple, devastating fires swept across Wine Country, Salute E Vita Ristorante’s Menbere Aklilu jumped into action, with her restaurant becoming a drop-off site for donations to assist the relief effort.
This was only days after her restaurant at 1900 Esplanade Drive in Marina Bay donated a day’s worth of sales, which, with additional contributions from her employees and community members, raised over $14,000 for victims of Hurricane Harvey.
As is the case for hurricane victims, the recovery effort for the Wine Country wildfires that killed 40 people and destroyed over 6,900 structures will be difficult.
To that end, on Friday, Oct. 27, Aklilu says she is donating 100-percent of her restaurant’s sales to the Northern California Fire Fund to help support the recovery efforts.
“We invite you to get involved in helping our northern neighbors through this tough time,” Aklilu said. “We hope that you are able to join us for lunch, happy hour, dinner, or even just a cocktail. Every little bit counts.”
The charitable restaurant owner hopes to raise a total of $50,000 to help fire victims.
Salute’s isn’t the only restaurant holding benefits for NorCal fire victims. Brezo Restaurant in Point Richmond is planning to donate 100-percent of sales from a benefit dinner it is holding on Friday, Nov. 3. See the flyer below fore more information on that event, which we will remind our readers about closer to the event.
