With tenants and landlords navigating a relatively new rent control policy that impacts thousands of Richmond dwellings, the City of Richmond is hosting a series of community education workshops to inform the public about the rent program, Richmond Fair Rent, Just Cause for Eviction, and Homeowner Protection ordinance.
The tenant-focused gathering will take place Wednesday, July 12, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts, 339 11th Street in Richmond. The landlord-focused meeting will be held Thursday, July 27, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the Richmond Auditorium’s Bermuda Room, 403 Civic Center Plaza.
Among the topics discussed will be assistance with the 2017 Annual General Adjustment (AGA), in which landlords of rent controlled units are given an opportunity to adjust rents up to 3 percent annually. Attendees will also receive information on resources available for tenants and landlords.
The meetings are open to all, but space is limited. Interested parties can RSVP at https://richmondrent.eventbrite.com, or find out more about the rent program by visiting www.richmondrent.org, calling (510) 620-6576 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
