Richmond advocate honored for long resume of community service

Rodney “Alamo” Brown was honored during a youth conference at De Anza High last weekend for his long resume of community service in Richmond.

Brown was presented with the John C. Maxwell Global Leadership Award during Saturday’s Global Youth Leadership Conference held by the John Maxwell Team. The event is touring the world in order to help young people build confidence, positive attitudes and battle bullying and the fear of failure.

The conference was hosted by Murender Jackson in the De Anza High School Theater. Brown, a Kennedy High graduate, was humbled upon receiving the award, saying community service is one of the great loves in life.

“Those who know me know I have a sincere passion to serve our people and LOVE what I do greatly,” Brown said. “Thank you to Sister Murender Jackson for reaching out to me and acknowledging the importance of being servants in our community.”

Brown is currently in his second year as a student at Regent University, where he is studying Neuroscience Cognitive Psychology.
