The Pup Hut at 12505 San Pablo Ave. (corner of Clinton Ave.) has been at the same location for more than 40 years, and under ownership by the hard-working, dedicated Perez family for the last 15 years.
Their wide array of delicious hot dogs are an obvious draw, including their original dogs and cheese dogs. But Pup Hut also serves a gorgeous double-burger and bowl of chili, as well as a full breakfast menu that includes sandwiches, eggs, hash browns, bacon, sausage, and laguicia.
Making food that pleases people has been Manager Christian Perez’s goal for the last 15 years. Meeting people and becoming friends with regular customers is his favorite part of the job.
In his time at Pup Hut, Perez says he’s seen a change in the area.
“It is becoming more diverse, more different people are coming in,” he said. “It’s nice to see the city grow.”
When he’s not working tirelessly at his business, Perez says he enjoys walking along the Richmond waterfront on a nice day, or grubbing tacos and burritos on 23rd Street.
