‘STEM Games’ coming to Richmond

West Contra Costa Education Fair set for Jan. 26
Richmond Memorial Auditorium.

The Richmond Memorial Auditorium and Convention Center has been billed as an ideal venue for boxing, but early next year the bell will ring on a different kind of bout.

On Saturday, March 4, the East Bay Contra Costa STEM Games is scheduled to take place in the convention center at 403 Civic Center Plaza.

But first: On Wednesday (yes, tomorrow!), an Information Night will be held at the auditorium for teachers, parents, administrators and school communities who want to know more about the competition.

The EBCC STEM Games is set to consist of 28 competitive team events that resemble athletic events but with a focus on knowledge and skills in science, technology, math and engineering. Events serve student teams from grades 3 through 12, with each team being allowed a maximum of 15 members.

The entry fee per school or group is $100.

The EBCC STEM Games is organized by Richmond Department of Community Services in partnership with environmental consulting group Gen X Eco Solutions.
