Local schools get new principals, including El Cerrito High

Edith Jordan-McCormick, an El Cerrito resident and public elementary school principal in San Francisco, was appointed principal at El Cerrito High School, the West Contra Costa Unified School District announced Wednesday.

Jordan-McCormick has held the post in the San Francisco Unified School District for three years and previously worked as assistant principal in the Oakland Unified School District, according to her LinkedIn account. She received her Bachelor of Arts in History in 1996 and went on to obtain a Masters in Educational Leadership and Administration from U.C. Berkeley.

Jordan-McCormick was among a number of new principals announced at WCCUSD schools. They include:

Armando Torres, currently principal at King Elementary School, was named principal at Bayview Elementary School in San Pablo;

Heather Best, 4th grade teacher at King, was hired as principal of Lupine Hills Elementary School in Hercules;

Joey Sundberg, assistant principal at De Anza High School, will become principal at King Elementary School in Richmond;

Lynn Bernhardt, a roving vice principal, was appointed principal at Fairmont Elementary School in El Cerrito;

Keilan Hunter, a 4th grade teacher at Stewart K-8 School, will become principal at Coronado Elementary School in Richmond.

In addition, WCCUSD Director of Business Services Regina Webber was appointed to the position of executive director and program specialist Rosalind Brown was appointed to assistant principal of the Transition Program.
