A technology lab is slated to open in Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Richmond, according to an article by USA Today, which reported about an initiative by Rev. Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow PUSH Coalition that aims to teach computer code to young people.
Jackson is trying to equip African Americans with skills that will prepare them for careers of the future by tapping into faith centers. His FAITHTECH Labs “provides access to computers for all ages and coding classes for young people,” the USA Today article said.
“So far, Rainbow PUSH has opened tech labs at Calvary Hill in San Francisco, in its Chicago headquarters and in a church in Greenville, S.C., Jackson’s hometown,” the article stated. “Two more are slated to open soon — inside Greater St. Paul Church in Oakland and Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Richmond, Calif. — with a third planned for a Chicago church.”
