The nonprofit For Richmond alerted us to prospective career opportunities for local residents who are either on parole or probation.
On Jan. 13, three workshops will be held to guide parolees and probationers to job possibilities working for agencies such as the Golden Gate Ferry.
These jobs do not require previous industry experience and would include generous starting pay, with benefits after 30 days.
The workshops will be held at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. at 400 Broadway Ave. in Oakland. Those registering must call (510) 789-9270 to reserve their space in one of the workshops.
Applicants will have a chance to become trained as members of the Inland Boatman’s Union (IBU/ILWU), the Master Mates and Pilots Union (MMP) and the Sailor’s Union of the Pacific (SUP).
