The ‘rich life’ segment dropped by Richmond’s Annie’s Annuals nursery this past weekend for a Spring Party that took full advantage of the balmy weather. In addition to the fabulous flowers and other fantastic flora on display, the festive fling showed off face-painting, colorful clowns, giant puppets and a whole lot more.
If you haven’t explored Annie’s yet, the sprawling enclave at 740 Market Ave. is a fun visit even for non-gardeners, with endless aisles of unusual plants that have attracted a clientele that includes Martha Stewart. And the notable nursery is at its best during its free events that seem to appeal to all ages.
In addition to the aforementioned fun, the Spring Party included complimentary snacks plus tasty fare from Top Dog. Attendees also danced to DJ tunes on an elevated platform, took part in free raffles and sat in on alfresco seminars held by gardener-in-chief Annie Hayes and expert horticulturist Riz Reyes—who taught the audience tips on crafting hand-tied bouquets right from their own garden.
Upcoming events at Annie’s in 2018 include a Mother’s Day Soiree the weekend of May 12 and 13, and a Fall Extravaganza slated for September 29 and 30. The nursery also hosts a Butterfly Summit in late May and presents free gardening talks throughout the year.
