The first of two free Music on the Main concerts is set to take place on Wednesday, July 26 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Marina Way and Macdonald Avenue in downtown Richmond.

Live music, food, beverages, vendors, a kids zone, resource booths and even a Freshest Cargo fruits and veggie market are all features of the concert series held annually by the Richmond Main Street Initiative (RMSI), the nonprofit working to revitalize the city’s downtown corridor.

On Wednesday, music performances will include local R&B diva Niecey Living Single & the Obamah$ and eclectic gospel stylings by Steven Green & The Lifeline.

Also taking the stage will be Sakurai, a Richmond youth and RYSE Center participant, who will recite original works of poetry.

Food vendors will include Curbside Kitchen (Filipino fusion), CJ’s BBQ & Fish (ribs, links & more) and Civil Pops (organic ice pops).

And then on Aug. 23, head over again for a second Music on the Main concert featuring live performances by Andre Thierry and the Caribbean AllStars. The event again runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

This is the 16th annual Music on the Main series and is sponsored by local entities such as the city, Kaiser Permanente, Mechanics Bank, Sims Metal Management, Rolling Hills Memorial Park, Republic Services and East Brother Beer Company.
