Beer lovers in Richmond are hoppin’ for joy right now.
At 4 p.m. Wednesday, brand new East Brother Beer Company at 1001 Canal Blvd. is set to open its tap room to the public.
The company that prominently touts that “beer is labor” is about to showcase its first labors of love in the form of a red lager, pale wheat, oatmeal stout, red IPA, and Bohemian pilsner. Read more details about these beers here.
East Brother Beer was founded by two pals — Rob Lightner and Chris Coomber — who set out to “create familiar, classic styles with precision and a modern sensibility.”
Lightner told us Tuesday he and Coomber are excited to open in Richmond and hope to be established here and to participate in the community.
“Construction of our tap room is complete,” they posted on the company Facebook page. “All systems are go, and we’re ready to welcome friends, neighbors, and anyone thirsty for a pint or two of our classic styles.”
Tap room hours are from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, noon to 9 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
Snacks will be offered the first few days, and patrons are allowed to bring food as well. East Brother will have food trucks available for patrons on weekends and busy weekdays, Lightner said.
