One of Richmond’s most popular and creative Halloween events of the year, Skeletonfest, is set to take place Sunday, Oct. 23 at the Richmond Art Center.
The afternoon of fun, music and art-making for all ages will run from noon to 3 p.m. at the Art Center at 2540 Barrett Ave. in Richmond, which is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year.
“This year our Studio Education department has really ramped up the art-making events and this should be a really wonderful opportunity for local families,” Art Center spokeswoman Julie Sparenberg said.
Artmaking stations will be set up throughout the Art Center’s courtyard and studios. Families will have the opportunity to participate in Calavera Hatmaking, paper flowers, Metal Nichos/Milagros and Mini Honoring Pinatas.
DJ Agana will spin music to help inspire creativity.
Day of the Dead is celebrated on the first days of November in central and southern Mexico to honor and celebrate loved ones who have passed.
While all ages are welcome, children must be accompanied by an adult.
