As we told you last week, the group tasked with revitalizing downtown Richmond is set to launch an Indegogo campaign to raise funds in order to bring family-style restaurant Home of Chicken and Waffles to downtown Richmond.

The restaurant’s owner, Derreck Johnson, wants to open his third location in the vast BART parking garage retail space at Macdonald Avenue at 16th Street. Funds raised from the soon-to-be-launched Indegogo fundraiser will help build out about 10,000 square feet of never-before-used space so that tenants can move in,  according to Richmond Main Street Initiative (RMSI), the nonprofit spearheading a City Council-approved effort to improve downtown. A cafe is envisioned to join Home of Chicken and Waffles in the space.
