Purchasing a pick-me-up at Peet’s Coffee & Tea in Pinole through Christmas Eve can help lift West County’s budding entrepreneurs to new heights in 2015.
The local coffee chain’s Pinole store is currently accepting donations to support the West Contra Costa Business Development Center (BDC), the highly effective nonprofit that’s been helping local entrepreneurs start up and grow their small businesses at little to no cost.
With a beverage purchase, from Wednesday through Christmas Eve customers at the Pinole Peet’s will have a chance to drop some extra “cheer” in the tip jar, BDC program manager Raquel Toledo said. A portion of those proceeds will be matched by Peet’s.
Then on Christmas Eve, free small drip coffee will be offered to help encourage community support and donations for BDC.
Peet’s’ participation in this fundraising initiative makes sense, as founder Alfred Peet was similarly a budding small business owner when he opened his first shop in Berkeley on April 1, 1966.
“With a blend of ambition, fearlessness and passion, Mr. Peet brewed up a coffee business that would spark a love for specialty coffee across the nation,” Toledo said.
Since 1995, BDC has been offering local entrepreneurs numerous services such as free start-up assistance, access to capital, and a food business incubator program.
