A new coffee roaster might soon open shop in Point Richmond and plans to host storytelling, open mic and other performance arts.
At its July 17 hearing, the Richmond Planning Commission is scheduled to consider approving a conditional use permit for Kaleidoscope Coffee at 109 Park Place. The agenda item is below.
Kaleidoscope Coffee owner Cassandra Cushing stated on the company website that she wanted to open a brick and mortar business in Point Richmond because of the neighborhood’s “rich sense of community and artists.”
“Kaleidoscope Coffee will be a destination coffee shop truly built around the community, with regular storytelling events, local music, and local art on the walls,” Cushing writes. “YOU are part of the space and part of the story.”
In a June 24 Facebook post, Cushing said she hopes to open as soon as this fall.
“I’m hoping to be open by late September, but it’s hard to get a good estimate on how long permit approval and construction will take,” Cushing wrote. “There’s a chance it will be pushed into Oct, but I’m hoping for sooner. I’ll keep posting pics and updates as things come along.”
