Check out the trailer for the play, “Po’Boys Kitchen,” which was directed by Donte Clark of RAW Talent and produced by Gemika Henderson and Chito Floriano from the RYSE Center in Richmond.
The play centers around a black-owned convenience store and eatery in the heart of Richmond and the colorful characters that frequent it – not just neighborhood families but also prostitutes, drug dealers and crack addicts.
Here’s more of the summary: “Some come for Po’Boys’ signature butter-me-up-cornbread and Big Mama’s southern lemonade; some stop in to talk trash, crack jokes, or gossip about daily news. Some come seeking wisdom and redemption, a clean slate where they can re-write themselves. Will they find the courage to transform their future or will the ghosts of their past pull them back?”
