The premiere of a documentary examining teen pregnancy among African Americans will take place in Richmond city council chambers on Feb. 13 and will be free for the public, according to the Richmond Public Library.

The film, “What Mama Didn’t Say: A Dialogue About African American Sexuality,” is presented by the Richmond Public Library’s teen services division. The screening starts at 7 p.m., with a reception to begin an hour earlier.

The film chronicles the lives of teen moms from the Bay Area, including Richmond. The movie “examines the disproportionate number of African American teens having children and raising families out-of-wedlock,” according to the weekly newsletter from Richmond City Manager Bill Lindsay.

A trailer for the film can be seen here.

After the screening, the film’s director Doug Harris and cast members will discuss the documentary and answer questions.
