It takes just five days to achieve this new career.
The San Pablo Economic Development Corporation is alerting the public to a free 5-day, 40-hour HazWOPER (hazardous waste and emergency response) training opportunity. Those who complete the course and pass the exam can qualify for jobs starting from $50,000 and over.
A mandatory HazWOPER 40 orientation is being held Thursday, Feb. 15, from 3-4 p.m. at San Pablo EDC, 13830 San Pablo Ave Suite D in San Pablo.
The five-day training starts on Monday, Feb. 26. To RSVP, click here.
“No matter your background, you have an opportunity to get certified,” said San Pablo EDC, which partnered with the Northern California Teamsters Apprentice Training and Education Trust (NCTAT) to provide the training free of charge.
“Applicants must demonstrate a reliable work ethic and readiness to go to work, as clients who are certified on the last day of class go to work as early as the next day,” according to San Pablo EDC. “The devastation of the Northern California fires that affected the Santa Rosa and Napa regions have put all HazWOPER 40 certified to work at full-time, hourly rates higher than what we quote and all with benefits.”
