A traffic collision led to a road rage altercation in Hercules on Monday morning when one of the drivers became upset and assaulted the other, according to police.
An officer responded to the intersection of Hercules and San Pablo avenues at 11:42 a.m. on a report of a physical altercation, and located two vehicles near the intersection of San Pablo and Sycamore avenues.
The officer determined that a 42-year-old woman driving a 2008 Honda Accord north on San Pablo Avenue collided with a 2017 Ford Explorer driven by a 41-year-old woman.
Police said the woman driving the Honda rear-ended the woman driving the Ford. The Ford’s driver got out of her vehicle and approached the window of the Honda, then the Honda’s driver grabbed the Ford’s driver by the hair and began punching her in the face.
The victim suffered a cut to the lip and bumps to the head. The suspect, whose name was not immediately available, was taken into custody on suspicion of battery.
