Richard Doss, 21, of Richmond was found fatally shot in a vehicle on 23rd Street on Sunday, police said.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired and a possible collision in the area of 27th Street and Barrett Avenue about 8:45 p.m., Richmond police spokesperson Lt. Felix Tan said.
Responding officers found a vehicle stopped on 23rd Street just north of Barrett Avenue, Tan said. Police found that the lone occupant of the vehicle, identified as Doss, had been shot. He was pronounced deceased at the scene, Tan said.
An arrest hasn’t been made nor was a motive immediately known.
On social media, Doss’ death was mourned by hundreds of community members, including family. Doss was identified as up-and-coming rap artist Lil Buzz. During an interview earlier this year with Thizzler on the Roof about his album release, Doss talked about the dangers of street life, and mentioned having been shot in the past.
In the wake of his death, well-known local rapper Doc Dolla posted a tribute song to YouTube, stating, “Rip to my lil cousin @lilbuzz u will be truly missed my friend. I ain’t know wat else to do, I just let my soul bleed for you.”
