19-year-old Richmond man arrested for hit and run in San Pablo

A 19-year-old Richmond man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run acident in San Pablo that sent a 33-year-old man to the hospital, police said.

Corell Hackett was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run with injuries and booked into Contra Costa County jail in connection with the collision that occurred in the area of Brookside Drive near 23rd Street.

Police responded to a call of a man lying in the roadway and found a 33-year-old man with injuries to his face and lower torso. He was taken to the hospital, where he is in critical but stable condition, police said.

Afterward, officers found an unoccupied sedan in the vicinity of 18th Street and Coalinga with front-end damage consistent with a collision with a pedestrian, police said.

  1. There isn’t enough traffic enforcement in Richmond. You can sit at any intersection in town and watch people go right through red lights, see them speeding down the street well above the posted speed limit, hear cars with souped up engines speeding around town late at night burning 360 degree tire marks all over town. These people get away with it all day long one has to wonder the more that these types of accidents do not happen more often.
    Bring the CHP back to handle traffic enforcement in town again. They really did a fantastic job letting these reckless drivers know they were going to get caught and be held accountable.
    Unfortunately, Richmond Police Department hasn’t been able to send the same message.
