San Pablo police arrest suspect connected to bank robberies

San Pablo police have arrested a man suspected of robbing at least two banks and a payday loan business in the city recently.

At about 5:15 p.m. Thursday, San Pablo officers were called to the Money Mart at 14473 San Pablo Ave., where they arrested 30-year-old Avaun Price as he was leaving the business, police said.

Price had allegedly handed a note to an employee at Money Mart demanding money and claiming he had a weapon, police said.

Price is also suspected in the June 13 robbery of a Chase Bank at 14330 San Pablo Ave., near Laurie Lane, and a similar heist about 4:07 p.m. at Citibank at 201 San Pablo Towne Center, near San Pablo Dam Road.

He was arrested on suspicion of multiple counts of robbery and is being held at county jail.

The video above shows the suspect at a nearby liquor store following one of the robberies, police said.
