The ‘rich life’ segment savored a cultural potluck and celebration at Mira Vista Elementary on Wednesday, March 28 that reveled in cuisine, attire and live performances from all over the world—and from around the community.
The well-attended shindig came together as parents and students from the school were invited to bring in a large plate of food tied to their heritage. Event-goers were also encouraged to dress in traditional clothing from their cultural or ancestral homeland. And topping things off was a full program of multicultural entertainment, ranging from Persian Folk and Hip-Hop dance routines to songs from all around the globe.
As a Mira Vista family, with our Kindergartener son Logan wrapping up his first year at the school, we took part in the foodie fun—bringing some Irish Soda Bread and French madeleines.
It added to a multicultural medley that also featured chicken momo dumplings (Chinese), Bavarian bratwurst (German), bibingka rice cakes (Philipino), perfectly cooked plantains (Latin American) and at least a dozen other eclectic offerings.
Along with the traditional garb worn by many and the impressive international performances, it truly added up to a memorable night for grown-ups and kids alike—and showed off the ‘rich’ diversity of our city and the Mira Vista community.
Mira Vista Elementary is located on Hazel Avenue in East Richmond Heights and instructs students from pre-school through eighth grade.
