Tamara Shiloh of the Multicultural Bookstore & Gifts and ChuckT of Rich City Studios are teaming up to bring a monthly “Family Game Night” to the community, designed to give parents some downtime while kids have a game-filled evening.

The first Family Game Night kicks off Saturday, May 23 from 4-8 p.m. at the bookstore, complete with food and refreshments (kids eat free).

Both adults and children are welcome, but they’ll be in different spaces: Grown-ups will be outside enjoying an affordable date night under the stars, while kids have fun playing games inside.

The cost for the evening is $15/adults, $10 for those under 17 years old, and $40 for a family of four.

Family Game Night will continue beyond May on every fourth Saturday of the month. Some of the games kids will be playing will include Dominoes, Whist, Ebonyopoly, Scrabble, 50,000 videos, and many other games to choose from.

ChuckT said Family Game Night “is an alternative to a babysitter for parents” at a time when it may be difficult to pay for childcare, while also being “a place for indie game developers to demo games and get feedback” from real players.

The Multicultural Bookstore & Gifts is located at 260 Broadway in Richmond. Click here to sign up.
