Chevron and Ceres Policy Research will host their next community town hall meeting on Thursday, April 23, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at CoBiz Richmond, 1503 Macdonald Ave.
The meeting will feature presentations from several local agencies providing safety and environmental updates.
MCE (Marin Clean Energy) will discuss their Home Energy Savings Program, which provides income-qualifying homeowners with free assessments and upgrades like insulation and duct sealing. Chevron’s support helps expand access for residents in its fenceline communities and North Richmond.
Also, the Red Cross will share information on its Sound the Alarm safety initiative, which includes an event Saturday, April 25, at the Shield-Reid Community Center to install free smoke alarms.
These partnerships are part of Chevron Richmond’s 2024 Community Action Plan, which also includes resilience grants for programs like LifeLong Medical Care’s Asthma Health Promoters Program.
The Bay Area Air District will also provide details on its upcoming Local Community Benefits Fund that came out of its settlement agreement with Chevron. These funds are intended to support community–based projects such as air quality monitoring, community capacity building, and local environmental and public health initiatives, particularly in impacted communities like Richmond.
Other topics include updates to air monitoring tools and information about flaring improvement efforts. Contra Costa County officials will also summarize safety program improvements made after a recent audit.
The event will end with a public comment period for questions and feedback. Register here.
The meeting is open to all Richmond residents and organizations interested in learning more about public safety and air quality, and contributing to the community dialogue. Dinner will be served, and the venue is near parking and Richmond BART. Those who need Spanish or ASL interpretation should email klynch@cerespolicyresearch.com at least seven days before the event.
This meeting is part of a 2024 agreement between Chevron Richmond and the Bay Area Air District to improve public engagement, and continues to be shaped through ongoing input from a committee of local community members, focused on making information relevant and responsive to the needs of the Richmond community.
