Point Richmond Gallery will host an art show featuring Mill Valley artist Tom Zizzo from May 9-31.
The gallery will be open every weekend during this time from noon to 4 p.m. Visitors are invited for a party to meet the artist and a short talk where he will explain his work on Sunday, May 17, from 1-3 p.m.
The exhibition features 26 new layered oil paintings by Zizzo, whose work explores color, structure, and emergence. Drawing on a background in science and graphic design, Zizzo focuses on color and finds inspiration in the natural world. The paintings are meant to be experienced slowly. He uses special interference paints that shift as the viewer moves, causing them to look different in person than on a digital screen. Zizzo describes the collection as a meditation on the land and how it is connected by fields and boundaries.
