The UC Master Gardeners are bringing their annual plant sale back to Contra Costa County this April. This fundraiser offers high-quality tomato plants for $4 each, with all proceeds supporting local garden education. While the event is famous for its tomatoes, shoppers can also choose from a massive selection of peppers, eggplants, and other summer vegetables. Shoppers can pay with cash, check, or credit card but should bring their own boxes to carry plants home.
Walnut Creek: Our Garden
The sale kicks off at the corner of North Wiget and Shadelands on Saturday and Sunday, April 11 and 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. To make shopping easier, an ADA-accessible station with every plant variety will be available in the parking lot. If you miss the weekend, the sale continues on Wednesday, April 15, and Wednesday, April 22, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Antioch: Rivertown Demonstration Garden
On Saturday, April 18, the sale heads to the Contra Costa Event Park at 1201 West 10th Street. This one-day event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and features a special selection of melons and watermelons alongside the tomato starts.
Richmond: Richmond Art Center
The final stop is the Richmond Art Center courtyard at 2540 Barrett Avenue on Saturday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Richmond exclusive will feature a unique variety of Asian greens and vegetables in addition to the standard tomato inventory.
