San Pablo is launching a “huge” weekend of youth sports, with signups for the upcoming football and basketball seasons and, of course, Opening Day parade and games for youth baseball.
Football and basketball
On Friday, April 3, local families have two opportunities to register for upcoming football and basketball seasons at Mountain Mike’s Pizza, located at 3340 San Pablo Dam Road.
From 6-8 p.m., the San Pablo Cowboys Youth Association will hold registration for the fall football season. Fees are set at $250 for football and $200 for 7-on-7 uniforms. While the program serves athletes ages 5 to 14, children ages 5 to 6 can participate for free provided they participate in fundraising.
During the same window, D’s Elite AAU Travel Basketball, also known as Clamp City, will register players ages 8 to 14. The basketball program carries a $200 fee and typically holds practices on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at Davis Park.
Baseball
The festivities continue Saturday, April 4, with the San Pablo Baseball Association’s Annual Opening Day. The community parade begins at 10 a.m. at Contra Costa College, located at 2600 Mission Bell Avenue. The celebration then moves to Davis Park for an afternoon of games and food from noon to 5 p.m.
Families still interested in baseball or softball can register online at sanpablobaseball.com. The association is highlighting new softball opportunities for girls ages 10 and under. While early bird discounts have passed, parents can use the code earlybird26 online to check for available rates.
For more information on any of these programs, community members can contact President Andre Williams at (510) 978-6876 or Vice President Vivian Gomez at (510) 472-0020.
