Pinole launched its Sidewalk Rehabilitation Program, focused on improving accessibility and safety throughout the community’s downtown district and surrounding areas.
Crews began saw-cutting and demolishing existing curb ramps this week for residents using wheelchairs, walkers or strollers.
Construction will proceed over the coming weeks and each work zone is planned to be completed within two to three days. Initial work zones include Fernandez Avenue, several locations along San Pablo Avenue in downtown Pinole, Tennent Avenue at Park Street, and Marionola Way/Ridgecrest Road at Tesoro Court. The southeast and southwest curb ramps at the intersection of Fernandez Avenue and San Pablo Avenue have already been completed.
Drivers and pedestrians are urged to exercise caution around active work zones and to follow posted detours and signage.
For any questions or concerns about the sidewalk rehabilitation project, please contact Project Manager K. J. Madayag at (510) 724-9010 or email publicworks@pinole.gov.
