The holiday season can be especially difficult for those grieving the loss of a loved one. To help, Community Alliance Church, located at 2375 Aberdeen Way in San Pablo, is hosting events offering comfort and hope through the holidays.
The first, GriefShare: Surviving the Holidays, will be held Wednesday, Nov. 19, from 6:15 to 8:30 p.m. The one-night seminar provides practical tools for managing emotions, family gatherings, and traditions that can feel overwhelming after loss, church officials said. Participants receive a Survival Guide workbook for $7, with scholarships available.
“Grief doesn’t take a break for the holidays,” said Pastor Matt Hall. “We want to help people face this season with honesty, hope, and the reminder that they’re not alone.”
The church also offers 13-week GriefShare support groups on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., providing ongoing encouragement for anyone walking through grief. Workbooks are $20, with scholarships available.
The season concludes with a Blue Christmas Service on Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 6:30 p.m., a quiet, reflective evening for those who are hurting or not feeling joyful this season.
All events are open to the public. Details and registration are available at www.welcometocommunity.com/grief.
